JIM DUELL
Create your Site.
Hi ! My name is Jim Duell and I live in Perry, NY. I am a 35 year member of the Perry Fire Department and love doing Fire Photography as well as event photography. I am a lifetime member of the International Freelance Photographers Organization. I also enjoy taking pictures with my Konica Minolta 7D Digital Camera that I got in the spring of 2005. Just passing 9000 pictures it is sure different than shooting film which this is my 2nd year of not using any film. I have 50 rolls as a backup in the fridge just calling me to go everytime I go with my cameras. I have been using Minolta 35mm cameras since back in 1975 when I got my first XG-7 body and 50 mm lens. Not 30 years later I have an XG-A, 5xi, Maxxum 5, X-700, Panoramic camera bodies all Minolta brand. I have a second 5xi body that I got on ebay cause I liked the first one that I purchased back in 1993 for the fire department and now its mine. I . when using film shot 2000 to 3000 pictures a year depending on where I went. I took 2 courses at the local BOCES for film developing and camera use. I had a darkroom in the fire department but, the village needed the space and now everything is in my basement in boxes. I use my pictures to build the 25 websites that I have at http://dslrjim.freeservers.com These are all listed on the bottom of the homepage. I also took a photography course at the New York State Fire Science Academy in Montiour Falls, NY for using a video camera at a fire scene. I have several certificates from here for a number of fire related courses given at our county training center and at our own fire hall. I would sure like to find a full time job of doing pictures of fire scenes and accidents for insurance companies.
THE HISTORY BEHIND DEVELOPING THIS SITE
I started this website in the fall of 2006 and been updating it every few months adding new pictures and stories. I have been building about 25 different websites using all the digital pictures that I have taken since 1998 since I got my first Kodak digital camera while working there as a contract worker. Spent 8 years there and ended it with a back injury and they would'nt let me come back. Now on totally disability I do no lifting over 30 pounds or bending over at a deep rate.
